Two weeks ago, I took my beloved balayage to an even lighter, brighter shade. The first time I had it done in April, I noticed my ends were damaged and dry. *SAD FACE* So when I got the itch to take my color to next level, I was ecstatic that my salon started offering Olaplex. I had heard so much about this miraculous product offered during coloring services and I wanted to check it out for myself. You know, for scientific purposes.
I spoke with STYLEbar Chattanooga (where I had my services done a.k.a the only Salon I trust to handle my hair… shout-out to JULIE!) for a little more professional insight the process. Here’s they said about Olaplex:
Olaplex is a Bond Multiplier that dramatically eliminates breakage from chemical services and leaves hair feeling amazing! Olaplex does not interfere with color processing. It works independently to reform broken bonds that are not reforming properly with peroxide. It’s simple to use and completely safe. We simply just add the Olaplex No 1 step into the lightener and developer or color and developer after you are finished processing, we take you back to the shampoo bowl and if toning is necessary we do so. After all the chemical services are complete we put the Olaplex No 2 solution on towel dried hair and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Your stylist will send you home with the Olaplex No 3 treatment in which you apply to your hair once a week for ten minutes and follow by shampooing and conditioning as normal.
Personal opinion? I. LOVE. IT.
I felt a drastic difference between my first lightening session and my second. As I mentioned before, after my first session my hair felt dry and I still had a lot of split ends. This time, no negative results were felt or observed AT ALL. It’s been 2 weeks, and my hair feels like it’s returned to the condition it was in before I lightened it the first time.
Wanting to preserve my fantastic results, I opted for the take home product as well. My hair is softer, my curls are revived, and my hair is noticeably healthier. How noticeable?
Observe this conversation between me and my dear, sweet, typical guy that doesn’t notice anything, husband:
Me: What do you think of my hair?
Mr.: It looks like it’s healthier and in better condition. But I’m still not sure about the color.
Me: Well…. I did have a little something extra d…. WAIT. You should have just stopped while you were ahead. *grumble*
So if he noticed, that’s some good stuff right there.
