I love these statement earrings I got in my Jewelmint VIP box. They are substantial and sparkly. They are also (unfortunately) heavy and uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. I wore them when I went to get dinner with some out of town friends. I wanted to reflect the warm summery weather with loose silhouettes and neutral colors, and showcase my baubles…
A “What I Wore” update just in time for my next trip to Chicago this weekend! (Twice in 2 weeks!)
Two weeks ago I went to Chicago for a friend’s wedding. It was my first time and I heard heard so many cool things about the city, so I was REALLY excited. Before all the wedding chaos set in (Left Brain was the best man), we had one day to explore downtown Chicago. I loved it, but apparently it’s cold 7 months of the year (definitely not moving there).
Sometimes it’s difficult to put together an outfit to fit casual Fridays at the office or be “safe” enough to wear on a plant floor. I pair my comfy J.Crew factory lace shirt, white washed jeans, and Kate Spade Keds. Since I wore this with going out onto the plant floor in mind, I don’t have any additional jewelry. It’s clean, simple, but still edgy and work appropriate.
Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days! I was busy working on my midterm for my graduate Engineering Management class. Bleh. That’s over, back to posting!
A few weeks ago I went up to Philadelphia for a basketball tournament my husband was playing in. Of course I had to support him in style.
I wore this gold maxi skirt with a simple striped black top, a sparkly bracelet and sparkly earrings. I tried it with my J.Crew venus-fly trap necklace and it looked matronly, so I decided to keep it simple. I grabbed my moto jacket just in case it got chilly (which it did). I’m also wearing tan and gold sandals, but you can’t see those under the skirt. Paired with my clutch, this look is one of my favorites so far.
I definitely stood out among the other spectators. In a good way.
Psttt: Don’t forget, there are only a few more hours to enter my giveaway.

For our first Valentine’s Day as a married pair, my husband took me on a surprise trip to Nashville! (I’ll write a separate post on my trip). It was so much fun! We finished off the trip with a visit to the Parthenon (Nashville edition). He’s getting better at taking these OOTD pictures if I do say so myself. Of course, the backdrop was amazing.
Backtracking: I didn’t know our plans so I didn’t really pack much…. at all. Except for the leggings and the handbag (which I had on me), I only packed a nightshirt. Hubs gave me an $80 budget and 45 minute time limit. I ran with it (literally) and stayed well under budget. I picked up this sweater along with the gunmetal chevron ring at Forever 21 in the Opry Mills. I also didn’t pack any comfortable shoes, so I got these boots from a store I don’t remember…. I think I did good for 45 minutes and $80.
It’s been snowing and I’ve had the last three days off of work. I finally worked up the courage to go utside our apartment, dress up, and meet my husband downtown for lunch (he still had work :P). I decided to pair a feminine skirt and sweater with a textured (but slightly-feminine) faux leather jacket. I wanted to keep it neutral and let my lip(color) do most of the talking.
