As soon as I saw this vintage satin starter jacket on eBay, I fell in love. I love this jacket almost as much as I love Sam… There aren’t many vintage Texas Tech pieces that I’ve found.
It make me feel edgy, especially with the ankle boots and distressed jeans. I paired it with black sunglasses and a black and white stripe button-down to keep it in the same color family. I wanted the jacket to be the statement piece of the whole look.
What vintage style do you love to wear in a modern and updated way?
Anyone that knows Sam and I, knows that we’re almost opposite in every way. I’m more bubbly and adventurous. He tends to be more reserved and calm. We both value family, hospitality, and details.
When we lived in our apartment for 2 years, we found our common style. Modern, sophisticated, highly-curated. When we found our dream house, we were excited about the new challenge.
We aren’t dining room people. So we decided to do something different, turn our dining room into a social room. The walls were a silvered sage color with cream trim and wainscoting. In short, not anything we would ever pick on our own in a million years.
It took some convincing (mostly me trying to convince Sam) but we ended up going with bold navy (Sherwin Williams Naval) and a soft white trim. I personally think the results are stunning.
Its a definite improvement on the prior shades, and its a refreshing contrast from the various shades of grey that we have everywhere else. Paired with the soft cream sofas and faux coyote fur throw we brought over from the apartment, it’s perfectly us. Still on the hunt for the perfect wall art, and we are planning on slowly upgrading the lighting fixture, lamps, and the dark wood tables to suit our visions, but it still ties nicely with the room updates.
What do you guys think? Is there a bold color you’d try (or have tried) in a room?
